surely, surly

Surely or surely means certainly; without a doubt--
It's only 6 o'clock; surely the store will be open.
Surely you don't mean that!

Surely may also mean without slipping or missing, to describe a physical action--
He climbed up the ladder slowly and surely.

Surly or surly means rude or ill-tempered--
What a surly clerk! I'll never shop here again!
There's no use being surly.

Now that you know that, you can say--
"Surely being surly won't change the weather."
